tomorrow and God

This quote from an unknown author is believed to have been based on the verse from Matthew  6:33-34. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. 

Also from Matthew 6:25-34-

 

 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. ...

the One who strengthens me

With the One who strengthens us on our side, there is really nothing we cannot do.

I love this quote from the Philippians. It is so inspiring.

gift of God

This verse from the Ephesians is a good reminder to us about the reason we are saved. It is not about our efforts or what we have done, it is by grace, a gift from God.

This quote from Luke is the Blessed Virgin Mary's song of praise. Pope Francis exhorts us to be like Mary who is an icon of joy.

Today is the Feast of the Holy Family. So I am sharing a quote from Deuteronomy about honoring your father and mother.

the purpose of light

One of my favorite authors is Paulo Coelho. He has a way of putting things into words that reveal such a deep understanding of mankind. He has written so many books, the most widely read is, The Alchemist, which has been translated into 80 languages.

This quote that I used here is from his book, The Witch of Portobello. I'd like to  interpret it as referring to our talents and gifts which we should share to the world. We are not supposed to hide them because they can serve as light or inspiration to others.

This is very similar to what is said in Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Hope in the Lord

I find this verse from Psalm 31 so reassuring. As long as we put our trust and hope in the Lord, then we can go on.

love and faithfulness

When I read this verse from Psalm 138, I was right away reminded of this photo of Gerbera daisies. They look like they are bowing.
We must indeed give thanks for the love and faithfulness of God.

A virgin shall conceive

In preparation for the birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary on September 8, I am posting this verse from Isaiah.

Put on love

If we want perfect unity, we must "put on love..." as this verse from Colossians says. Love is really the thread that binds all of us together.

The photo is a spray of Dendrobium orchid. If we observe, most orchids are usually in a spray or a group. Somehow, being together gives them an added dimension and beauty.

If I have not love

Love is really the greatest of all as this verse from 1Corinthians tells us. Actually, the whole verse 13 in 1Corinthians speaks about love and ends saying that among faith, hope and love, love is the greatest.

Be joyful in hope

This verse from Romans 12:12 is a very good reminder for us to never lose hope and patience and of course to never stop praying. Sometimes, we tend to give up hope at the moment when our prayers are about to be answered. We should never lose hope, therefore.

God's love is awesome

This verse from John always gives me goosebumps! I am totally in awe of God's love! How can we not love Him in return?

Rejoice

Yes indeed, we must rejoice every new day as we marvel at the work of God! Just the mere fact that we are able to witness a new day, is enough reason to rejoice!

I took this photo from the highest part of Corregidor island as we witnessed the sun coming out and peeping through the leaves. It was such a beautiful morning and I could not help but say a prayer of thanks!

Let not your heart be troubled

This verse from John is so reassuring. The words "let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid"  fills me with hope and confidence that God is always with us.

The photo is an early morning with threatening storm clouds and a group of boaters practicing for a dragon boat festival. The boaters asked me if I wanted to go with them for a ride but I had to say "no" because I was afraid of my camera getting wet. Sigh! It would have been an experience!

All Things are Possible With God

I like this verse from Matthew because it tells us that there is no such thing as impossible with God. We just need to do our part and put our trust in Him.

Do not worry about tomorrow

We usually tend to worry needlessly about tomorrow that we forget we are here today. We have to be thankful that we have today. Thus, this reminder from Matthew is very timely and down to earth. Don't you agree?

Light Up the Sky

I think that this verse from Matthew 5:15 fits exactly this photo of a lamp post that I took one sunset day. The setting sun and the lamp seem to light up the sky together. Which one is lighting which?

Actually, the lamp was not yet lighted when I took this photo. However, I just love the way that it seems to light up the sky.
