There are many ways of praying and I like how Karl Rahner describes what praying is.

Karl Rahner is a German Jesuit priest who has written so many books. His theological views are considered as very influential.

Blessed Maria Domenica's maxim which she wrote for the Camillian Sisters is also true for all of us. We really must learn to put our trust in the Lord and just in ourselves.

Religion is a candle inside a multicolored lantern

I like the way Mohammed Naguib describes what religion is. This is especially true about traditional lanterns which are lighted by candles. We do see the various colors, but actually, the candle is always there inside. Nowadays however, lanterns are already lighted by light bulbs and not by candles anymore. More so with giant lanterns as shown in the photo below.

This giant lantern is actually lighted by more than a thousand bulbs. This particular lantern won the grand prize in the recently concluded giant lantern festival here in the Philippines.

prayer is raising of the mind to God

Pope John XXIII describe best what is written in our minds or hearts. Most of the time, we do not know how to put words in our prayer. But as Pope John XXIII said, "actual words matter less" as long as we raise our mind to God.,

Jim Henson, the creator of "The Muppets", is such an inspiring person. I love this quote from him. If only we can all share in his hope, then we will leave a better world after us.

Perfect miracle

I fully agree with Walt Whitman in his quote. Every day is really a miracle, and every hour that we are alive is even more of a miracle! So we really have a lot to be thankful for!

Amazing day

I love how e.e.cummings expressed this simple gratitude for an amazing day! We really have a lot to be thankful for. We only need to look around outside and also inside of ourselves.

Prayer is a longing of the soul

I love how Mahatma Gandhi described prayer. Every time I see a sunset or a beautiful creation of God, I always say a prayer of thanks and I feel that Gandhi is right about the prayer being "a longing of the soul."

Our imagination is really so powerful. As Carl Sagan said, "imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were." We simply have to make use of it then so we can go anywhere we want.

Don't lose hope

I like this "hope" quote from an unknown author. It is simply so positive, so full of hope! Just tells us that there is always something good in every situation that we find ourselves in. Sometimes, this may not be so evident right away, but it's there.

I have admired Henry David Thoreau for as long as I can remember. I have collected some of his quotes and I'm sharing one of them now.

As you can see this is another "dream" quote. I have posted several of  them here already.  Isn't it obvious that I do believe in dreams?

Adversity

I like this quote about adversity. We do need adversities to keep us grounded and as the quote says, "to prevent you (us) from skidding." Unfortunately I could not find who the author is for this quote. I just picked it up from one of the magazines I was reading and there was no attribution to any author.

 We usually ask from God so many things. I think this quote is a good reminder for us to do our part. Don't you agree?

I took this photo in Boracay island, Philippines. The beach is always filled with people walking, running, or just enjoying the sand and wind. Of course people enjoy the water too, but usually not during early morning.
