Take that shot

How true is this quote from Wayne Gretzky. We surely will miss 100 percent if we don't take that shot!

I took this photo of young men playing basketball in my hometown. I really wonder at how they can play while wearing slippers. I'm sure I'll have my slippers flying around if I attempted to run and jump. Anyway, this guy took a shot!

Open Your Package

This quote from an unknown author is so true! All of us have gifts and it's really up to us to open the package so we can share our gifts. Sometimes, we not only fail to open our package but we even gaze with envy and the gifts of others instead of appreciating what we have. Sigh!

The photo is an unopened yellow mum.

Devoted to Soul

Do we also devote time to sculpt or mold our soul in the same manner that we devote time to perfecting our craft and profession? What a powerful quote from Toyohiko Kagawa!

I took this photo while we were in Baguio. I was attracted by the image of this lone man who seemed to be contemplating the beauty of nature around him.

Without love

All I can say is, "how true, how true!" as a response to this quote from Max Muller.

So many lines have been written about "love" and this is definitely one of the best!

The photo is a flower of Turnera subulata or white alder.

Confidence in God

This is another maxim from Blessed Maria Domenica. I have posted before several maxims from her: Presence of God, Good Resolutions, Eternal Life, Our Hearts, and Trust in God. She wrote these maxims as guide and inspiration for the Camillian Sisters but as we can see, they can also guide and inspire all of us.

The photo is a spray of small flowers that I photographed from a public garden. I don't really know the name of these flowers.

Keep on Trying

If we don't try then we will never find out if we can do something. So this quote from an unknown author says it so well.

The photo is that of a frog looking like it is trying to get out of the patch. This is an "out of the box" effect processed in Photoshop.

The Sun and One Moment

I find this quote from Paulo Coelho very powerful and inspiring. It also makes me thankful for just being alive to witness all the beauty around us.

The photo is a solitary bird against the golden sunset and calm waters in our hometown.

All Things are Possible With God

I like this verse from Matthew because it tells us that there is no such thing as impossible with God. We just need to do our part and put our trust in Him.

I took this clouds photo from the plane window as we were on our way to Bohol.

Leave a Trail

For those with pioneering spirit, here is a perfect quote for you. It is from Ralph Waldo Emerson.

The photo shows two people walking through an uncharted portion of a hill. They left a trail for me as I followed them. It was such an exciting adventure in that semi-wilderness.

A Soul Blossoming in Nature

I love flowers. Together with raindrops, they are my favorite subjects for my photography. So I also collect flower quotes that I can partner with my flower photos. This is one of my favorites. It's from Gerard de Nerval. I love how he refers to flowers as souls blossoming in nature.

This is  a photo of "baby's breath". This flower is generally used as an add on to bouquets. It is so small, that we hardly pay attention to it. However, as you can see, its beauty can stand alongside any of the other flowers that we usually see. There is really so much beauty around us!

By the way, I used this very exact photoquote as the back cover of my flower book. Here is the link: http://www.blurb.com/b/3573623-flowers-smile-when-they-see-me

Presence of God

When we pray with others in a gathering, the prayer leader usually exhorts us to: "put ourselves in the presence of God." I think this maxim from Blessed Maria Domenica says the same thing, but not only for the moment, but throughout the day.

The photo is a bunch of white Euphorbia millii flowers, looking so pure as if it is truly in the presence of God.

Prayer

Our prayers should come from the heart, so even if "we can't find the right words to say them", we are still communicating with God. Isn't this simply a beautiful quote? Unfortunately, this is another one of those quotes with unknown author.

When I took this photo, it was a beautiful early morning as we waited for the sun to come out. It's that kind of morning that makes one say a prayer of thanksgiving.

Believe

Whatever happens to us is usually a manifestation of our dreams, actions and belief. This quote from an unknown source says it all.

The photo is a pink mum emerging from the bunch. It holds a lot of promise as it is still a bud.

Faith

I have posted other quotes about "faith" before, and I'm adding another one today. So this is the third quote about faith and this time it comes from Martin Luther King. While the other two quotes talk about the effect of faith on us, this one tells us what faith is.

Just a Prayer Away

Prayers can really do wonders. I have posted some photoquotes about prayer before and I am adding one more today. This quote is so short but so powerful and meaningful.

The photo is another Oxalis flower. I also mentioned before that I find Oxalis flowers very photogenic. Don't you agree?

Depth of the Soul

I love this quote from Joyce Kanelakos.  It shows us how we can truly get to know another person by looking at the depths of his/her soul.

The photo is a bud of the powder puff. It holds so much promise as it is ready to open up and be in full bloom.

Challenges

I love challenges! Thus, this quote from Joshua J. Marine is like an affirmation of what I believe in.

The photo is a sunset shot of a sailboat on the waters of Boracay island. The dark clouds may seem to be threatening, but the people in the sailboat do not appear to be in a hurry.

Imagination Has No Limitation

Our imagination is really powerful. And as Mark Victor Hansen said, "...there is no limitation."

This is actually my second quote about imagination. The first one was from Albert Einstein wherein he said that our imagination is a "preview of life's coming attraction."

The photo is that of my son as he playfully tries to do a "high five" with the statue of MacArthur in Corregidor island. By the way, I wrote an article about Corregidor in my HubPages site, in case you are interested.

Faith and Your Soul

I like the way Dwight L. Moody described the relationship between faith and soul. I especially like the line... "...a lot of faith will bring heaven to your soul."

The photo shows a bunch of wild daisies.

A single step

How true, how true! Confucius is really so wise!

The photo is that of footprints on the sands of Boracay island.

Decision ignites action

Decision is what starts the ball rolling. As Wilfred A. Peterson said, "Until a decision is made, nothing happens." This so true! And I'm sure you will agree.

The photo is that of a surfer who is on the brink of a decision.

Choose Hope

This quote from Christoper Reeve is so positive and so powerful! I love the way it tugs at my heart and awakens my creativity!

I coupled this quote with my photo of a fern leaflet emerging from the sea of green. I think they go well together. Don't you think so?

It's Our Attitude

"Our attitude" is the one that determines whether what we encounter in our life is obstacle or opportunity. J.Sidlow Baxter said this so well. It's really all a matter of attitude.

The photo that I used here is that of a flowering vine. Do you know how a vine stretches out to connect to the other side? It forms a twirl just like this in the photo. This twirl is what makes the tip of the vine strong and flexible at at same time. This end of the vine is subject to all kinds of environmental factors. It can be blown by wind, hit by something or someone, as it dangles freely from its attachment. However, when it touches something solid, like a stick or another plant, then it latches on and unwinds a little its twirl so it can attach firmly to the other side. This is design and opportunity at its best!

Happiness dwells in the soul

I like the way Democritus explained what happiness is.

The photo is that of my daughter who finds happiness in even the simple things she does.

Begin your Dream

This is another dream quote that I like. Dreams really have power. We just need to take action to make them come true, and there is no better moment to begin than now!

This is a photo of the eternal flame monument found in Corregidor island here in the Philippines. It is dedicated to the soldiers who died during World War II.

We Remember Moments

Aw, this quote from Cesare Pavese touches my heart! We really remember moments! We especially remember how we feel during those moments. Don't you agree?

I partnered this quote with this photo of Oxalis flowers. I love these flowers - they are so small and so dainty but they are so photogenic no matter what angle I take their photo.

Excellence is a habit

"Excellence is a habit"! Wow, I like what Aristotle said here about "excellence". This means that all of us are capable of developing excellence in anything that we focus on and repeatedly do. Isn't that something?

The photo is that of a busy bee on a yellow alder flower.

A large print for this photoquote is available in my RedBubble site. Here is the link: http://www.redbubble.com/people/lensbaby/works/10432594-excellence-is-a-habit?ref=work_main_nav

A single sunbeam

I don't know if St. Francis of Assisi is a poet, but the way he expressed the importance of a single sunbeam is so poetic.

I used this quote from him with my photo of this spider web. I think the two go well together because the single ray from the early morning sun created a beautiful rainbow on this cobweb.

Gratitude

I believe that gratitude makes us reach out to other people and to God.
Gratitude makes us count our blessings and focus on what is good and positive about our life. There is really so much that we can be thankful for. Thus, I like how Henry Ward Beecher expressed what gratitude is.

The photo is a common flower that is usually used by landscape gardeners. Unfortunately, I do not know its name.

Be first-rate

What Judy Garland says is so true! We can always learn from others but we must be true to our own self and not be "a second-rate version of somebody else." Each of us has a role to play, and there is only one you or only one me. That's how God intended us to be. So we must really develop all our talents and gifts fully so we can be "first-rate version of ourselves."

The photo is a macro shot of a sunflower.
