Trust in God

Blessed Maria Domenica, the foundress of the Camillian Sisters, wrote a maxim for every day of the year as a guide and inspiration for the sisters belonging to their congregation. However, I think that these maxims can inspire not only the sisters but also just about anybody especially those who also serve the Lord in their own way.

So today, I am sharing one of her maxims which I partnered with my photo of her statue found in the Camillian Sisters convent here in the Philippines.

When We Pray

I love this quote from Terri Guillemets about how prayer affects us and the world around us! It's simply so inspiring! Don't you think so?

discovery

We can discover new things, new insights every day if we only look at everything with new eyes or with new heart. Don't you think so?

I love this quote from Marcel Proust!

I took this photo in Boracay, my favorite island. I was using my telephoto lens then, so these two guys did not know that I was taking their photo.

The Glory of God

I took this photo from the plane window as we were flying to Iloilo City from Manila. I was lucky to get a window seat so I had fun taking photos of the clouds and the mountains underneath. I thought this photo goes well with this quote of Psalm 19:1.

Thank you God for all your wonderful creations!

For Every Drop of Rain that Falls

I love this song, "I believe". The lyrics are what immediately came to mind when I uploaded this photo of raindrops on my computer.

The whole song is so inspirational and I always get goosebumps every time I sing it. I think, one of these days, I will make another "photoquote" with the other sections of the lyrics

It has been recorded by so many artists, from Frank Sinatra to Elvis Presley and the Lettermen such that it is now hard to determine who wrote the original song. That's why I just wrote "unknown" as the author.

Anyway, here is the whole song:

"I believe for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows.
I believe that somewhere in the darkest night, a candle glows.
I believe for everyone who goes astray, someone will come to show the way.
I believe, I believe.

I believe above the storm the smallest pray'r will still be heard.
I believe that someone in the great somewhere hears every word.
Every time I hear a newborn baby cry, or touch a leaf or see the sky,
Then I know why I believe!"

Boldness has Magic

If you noticed, I have several quotes about dreams. Yesterday's post was about believing in your dreams. Another post talks about the beauty of dreams. Today, I am sharing about the boldness required to make our dreams come true. Keep on dreaming!

The background is a combination of photo and digital painting. I painted the sun and layered it with my photo of a tree. Then I blended them together using gradients. I love how everything turned out including the quote from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

Make Your Dreams Come True

If we want to make our dreams come true, we really have to work on them ourselves.

I combined this quote about dreams from  Leon J. Suenes with my photo of this boy who I found playing in a park. I just love the innocence and happiness on this boy's face.

I actually climbed another branch of the tree just so I could get his photo.

Life is a Promise

This phrase is part of a longer set of phrases about life that is attributed to Mother Teresa. I think it goes nicely with my photo of an Amarylis bud.

The whole set of phrases reads as:

"Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it."

The Lord is my Shepherd

In celebration of today's reading about the Good Shepherd, I am sharing this "photoquote" of Psalm 23:1

The photo is a section of the Banaue rice terraces here in the Philippines.

The whole passage is from the Psalm of David which reads:

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside still waters;
He restores my soul. He leads me in right paths For His Name's sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil;
For you are with me;
Your rod and Your staff - they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies, You anoint my head with oil;
My cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life. And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord My whole life long.
[Psalm 23:1-6; NRSV]

I got this from:  http://www.catholic.org/prayers/prayer.php?p=2612

I also have posted before verse 4 of this whole Psalm. Here is the link to this post.

Light Up the Sky

I think that this verse from Matthew 5:15 fits exactly this photo of a lamp post that I took one sunset day. The setting sun and the lamp seem to light up the sky together. Which one is lighting which?

Actually, the lamp was not yet lighted when I took this photo. However, I just love the way that it seems to light up the sky.

Adversity

I like this quote about adversity. We do need adversities to keep us grounded and as the quote says, "to prevent you (us) from skidding." Unfortunately I could not find who the author is for this quote. I just picked it up from one of the magazines I was reading and there was no attribution to any author.

The photo is sand along the beach of my favorite island here in the Philippines, Boracay. I have written some articles about Boracay in case you are interested.

Begin Your Life

I find that this quote is so motivating.

Sometimes we are so full of doubts and fears that we fail to begin to live!

I took this photo from our backyard. Our backyard faces west and the sunset that afternoon was simply unbelievably beautiful!

If you want to know how sunsets or sunrises get their colors, I have written an article about this in my HubPages. The link is here if you are interested.

You can do it!

This is one of the best motivational and inspirational quotes I have encountered. I have partnered this with my photo of two girls trying to navigate the rushing waters from a dam. I think they really go well together. What do you say?

If you want to see a bigger view of this as a poster or large print, please click on this link.

I Will Fear No Evil

This verse from Psalm 23:4 is always so comforting to me. I usually say this when I am out in the field especially when the place is not familiar to me.

The background photo shows the mountains of the Cordillera region here in the Philippines. Some of these mountains have been converted into what is known as the "Banaue Rice Terraces." I have written about the terraces in my HubPages. I also have more photos there.

By the way, cards, posters and various size prints of this is found in my RedBubble site here.

You are the World

When you are down and out and may need some boost of confidence or self worth, please just remember this quote.

We are always worth something to at least one person. And of course we are always worth something to God!

A card, poster or print version of this is found here.

Go for the Moon

I just love this quote from Bruce Barton. Fortunately, I have just the right moon photo to go with it. I took this photo while we were at Corregidor island, here in the Philippines.

Corregidor is one place where you can couple nature adventure with history.

Flowers and Laughter

Laughter is my favorite exercise! Hahaha! That's why I just love this quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson.

By the way, I have an article about laughter here. and a photoessay about flowers here. And by the way for the second time, my flower photos in this article are free to download. You can use them in your websites or for making cards. Just please link back and acknowledge your source, that is all I ask.
Enjoy!

The Beauty of Dreams

This quote from Eleanor Roosevelt  resonates well with my own belief about dreams. I believe that we should never stop believing in our dreams. This belief is what propels us to get up in the morning and start our day. Don't you agree?

I think this photo of the carnation with its dreamy background goes well with this quote. What do you think?

Move your feet

We usually ask from God so many things. I think this quote is a good reminder for us to do our part. Don't you agree?

I took this photo in Boracay island, Philippines. The beach is always filled with people walking, running, or just enjoying the sand and wind. Of course people enjoy the water too, but usually not during early morning.

Face the Sunshine

I love the positivity of this quote from Helen Keller. She is a very inspiring person despite her disability.
I think the quote goes nicely with this digital painting I made.

Life is full of possibilities

Life is full of possibilities. We only need to look around and discover what is in store for us. It is really up to us.

I love this quote from "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho. I think it fits very nicely with my photo of this fern frond that is about to uncurl. Just imagine all the possibilities waiting for it especially with that big raindrop on it.

A Bud and a Prayer

When I saw on the computer screen this photo that I took of this flower, something inside me whispered a prayer. I was simply struck by it's gracefulness and beauty. I love the progression of the buds as they opened up.

This is the prayer that I whispered and now share with you. Unfortunately I do not know the name of this flower. So if anybody knows, please share here. Thank you very much!

Dancing in the Rain

I took this photo of participants dancing in the rain during the Aliwan Festival in 2008. It was my first time to watch this festival and it rained heavily that afternoon.  It was also my first time to join an OTS or an "on the spot" photo contest.

Poor dancers, the rain was so hard, they had to scamper for cover. We, photographers, also looked for cover. I shared a tent with some other photographers and we were so cramped in that small space we could hardly move. The important thing was, we had to protect our cameras from the rain!

After sometime however, I guess the dancers got tired of waiting for the rain to stop, they were getting wet anyway, so they started dancing even in the rain. Since we were so cramped in our tent, I tried to look for a space where I can focus my camera to get a shot of what was happening. There was no space at all but down, between the legs of people. That's how I ended up with this shot - the legs of the dancers!

I was lucky the judges of the our photo contest appreciated how I was able to get this photo, so I got 2nd place for this!

Anyway, I think this photo and the quote from Vivian Green fit perfectly together. Don't you agree?

By the way, I have an article about the Aliwan Festival. If you are interested, here is the link.

How Do You Live?

I simply love this quote from Einstein. I sincerely believe that it is the way we look at life that makes us open to all the possibilities around us.

I coupled this quote with a photo of a leaf that I took one early morning. I just love how the early morning light enhanced the beauty of this leaf even if it is partially eaten up by some unknown entity, an insect maybe?

By the way, if you are interested in this as a card, poster or print, this is where you can get it.

great love

Sorry I have not posted the past few days. I was out of town and could not get an internet access. Anyway, I will make up for the lost days.

I just learned that the photoquote I am sharing today just had another sale over at RedBubble. Somehow, this card seems to be my most popular card as it has had the most sales. I don't really understand why, but it seems people identify with the quote as well as the simplicity of the photo.

The photo is that of weeds in our yard and I thought it fits the quote, as weeds are usually small and insignificant. However, they do have a beauty of their own. Don't you agree?

Here is the link to my RedBubble site for this card if you want to see a bigger view.

Good day

To those who think or feel that their day is not good, this quote from Cavett Robert might inspire you to reconsider. What do you think?

This is even better appreciated in bigger view. Click on  this link.

The scene is one of those serene, beautiful mornings in Boracay island, Philippines. I don't mind waking up early every day, just to get a view like this!

How Big Is Your God

If you are being buffeted by storms or even just by heavy rains in your life, then this is the perfect quote for you!

Please share with others who are also in the same situation.

Here is a bigger view of this.

I have more quotes like this in my HubPages.

Rejoice in Hope

This lily bud is I think a beautiful backdrop for this beautiful verse from Romans 12:12.

It reminds me of the promise of hope of Easter.
