wonders of the universe

Choosing what we focus on will really create our own surroundings and our own world. So as Rachel Carson said, "The more we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction." For how can we destroy something that is wonderful?

The moon is a friend

Carl Sandburg must have really been lonely when he wrote this line. What do you think?

It just occurred to me, what is the difference between lonely and lonesome? Or is there a difference? When do we use them?

I tried substituting "lonely" to the "lonesome" used in this quote, and I could not see much difference. However, I must admit that "lonesome" does sound better here. Oh well, maybe you would like to add to the comments what you think.

The photo I used here is actually made of two layers. The 1st layer is the moon photo and the 2nd layer is the trees photo. I created a texture of the trees and blended them in Photoshop.

We have only today

I love this quote from Mother Teresa because it exhorts us to take action...today! This is  a very good reminder for procrastinators like me.

Yes, we sometimes don't stick long enough to what we want or what we do such that we fail to succeed. We should really hold on and stick to it long enough especially if our heart tells us to go on.

Adapt to change

This quote is the essence of Charles Darwin's theory of evolution. This has always been wrongly quoted and called as the "survival of the fittest." Actually, it's not the exactly the fittest, but rather the one that is "adaptable to change."

I like the way Cardinal Rosales explained what leadership is. He said this in relation to servant leadership or leadership in church ministry. However, I think it applies even to leadership in any situation, don't you agree?

I thought all along that this prayer is from Saint Francis of Assisi, but after researching widely, I discovered that it really originated from American theologian, Reinhold Niebuhr.

According to Wikipedia, this prayer has also be erroneously attributed to Cicero, Thomas Aquinas, Augustine, Marcus Aurelius and many more. Imagine that!

Difficult people

There are difficult people, and there are helpful people but we need both kinds in our life. As this quote says, we still should be thankful for the difficult people, because they "show us who we don't want to be"!

This photo is actually a yellow cosmos that I played around with in Photoshop. I like this result after using "exclusion" in blend mode. I thought this cosmos is showing a lot of "self-confidence" as it stands out against the green background.
