What lies within us

 I love this quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson. It reminds us that what is inside of us, our inner being, is truly more important that everything outside of us. Before focusing on externals, we must first focus on what is inside us.

The photo I used here is a solitary raindrop with a flower reflected inside it.

Ralph Waldo Emerson is one of my favorite writers. I first knew him as a poet, but then I discovered later his other writings as an essayist and lecturer. Several of his quotes resonate well with what I believe in.

where there is love

This quote from Mahatma Gandhi is so simple yet so profound. He is able to express the essence of life in just a few words.

The photo is a macro shot of a water drop on the petals of a red rose. Drops always remind me of life.

felt with the heart

I find Helen Keller as such an amazing person. For somebody who has impaired sense of sight, she surely knows how to see what is beyond and behind the surface of things and people.

The photo is a raindrop at the tip of a flower. I love taking photos of raindrops and flowers and this is one of my favorites.

Dream and reality

This quote from Colin Powell just shows how down to earth he is. We should not just dream. We simply have to begin working on our dream and that takes "determination and hard work" according to Powell.

The photo is a raindrop on a fern frond. The raindrop clings on to the frond and stays longer out there.

rare things

I like what Henry David Thoreau says here about doing rare things. It opens the possibility for us to be able to do something rare!

Simplicity

Simplicity is really powerful, be it in ones lifestyle, thinking, and even in composition of an art work. As Rainer Maria Rilke said, simple things can "...become great and immeasurable."

I love this solitary raindrop photo because of it's powerful effect on the viewer. I think it is the perfect background for this quote from Rilke.

Simplicity and Art

I love this quote from Walt Whitman about art. I tend to agree with this as I usually find that I am most attracted to art that is simple. Thus I love using negative space and minimalism in my photography as exemplified in the photo I used for this quote. 

For Every Drop of Rain that Falls

I love this song, "I believe". The lyrics are what immediately came to mind when I uploaded this photo of raindrops on my computer.

The whole song is so inspirational and I always get goosebumps every time I sing it. I think, one of these days, I will make another "photoquote" with the other sections of the lyrics

It has been recorded by so many artists, from Frank Sinatra to Elvis Presley and the Lettermen such that it is now hard to determine who wrote the original song. That's why I just wrote "unknown" as the author.

Anyway, here is the whole song:

Life is full of possibilities

Life is full of possibilities. We only need to look around and discover what is in store for us. It is really up to us.

I love this quote from "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho. I think it fits very nicely with my photo of this fern frond that is about to uncurl. Just imagine all the possibilities waiting for it especially with that big raindrop on it.
